Fish Oil Supplements Improve Ability Children Read - Many parents give fish oil supplements to their children because of the content of calcium and omega-3 is good for growth. According to recent studies, fish oil can also improve the reading skills of children.

Researchers from the University of Oxford, UK, research the benefits of omega-3's ability to read. Around 362 children aged 7-9 years given fish oil supplements as a source of omega-3 with a dose of 600 mg for 16 weeks. Although there was no significant effect on the overall sample, but in children the ability to read low, after regularly consumed omega-3 sources, the ability to read up to three weeks compared with children who received placebo supplements or no active ingredient. Dr Alex Richardson, a senior researcher from the Centre for Evidence-Based Intervention from the University of Oxford, said that omega-3 supplementation proven to improve reading skills of children are in the lowest scale to match his friends.

Previously mentioned studies, omega-3 supplementation is also beneficial for children who suffer from attention deficit disorder or hyperactivity, children with dyslexia, and developmental coordination disorder. However, parents should not overly rely on the ability of supplements to enhance the child's ability to read in a short time.
